Need some advice. Do you think Jim Beam is a decent substitute for Jack Daniels in terms of price and taste? Thanks.

Thanks for the question.

My answer...
not really.
There are too many differences in how they are styled.  Try George Dickel instead.  GD is made one county over from Jack.  Both distilleries use similar water....and they both use the Lincoln County Process.  Which means they are mellowed by dripping the distillate through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal before it's barreled.
George Dickel has three varieties:  White label which is 90 proof...best used for sipping;  Black label which is great for mixing or sipping at 80 proof; Red label(kind of pinkish in color)...best used for mixing only because it's a bit younger.

If for some reason...you were actually trying for a different style from Jack...I still wouldn't recommend Beam.  Try Kentucky Tavern, Old Forester, Very Old Barton, or Four Roses Yellow label.

Hope that helped.

I have no idea what you are trying to say.  Are you agreeing...not agreeing?  Please, rewrite your comments so they can be understood.
